The Enkoji Temple, also known as “Temple of the Luminous Circle”, had its works started in the 1990s, located in the rural area of ​​Itapecerica da Serra, metropolitan region of São Paulo. The Temple was officially opened in 2001. The temple hosts a variety of Buddhist ceremonies and celebrations, including Zen meditation, courses, retreats and other activities.

Enkoji is a temple of the Zen tradition, dedicated to the dissemination of Buddhist teachings and practices. Its founder and first abbot was the Rev. Tensho Ohata, who was born in Japan in 1918 and died in 2017. In line with the founder's vision, Enkoji Temple also welcomes and promotes dialogue with all Buddhist schools, seeking to unite efforts in favor of the teachings and practices initiated by the Buddha there are 2600 years.

Construction work on the temple began in 1991, with the aim of providing better facilities for community members and for religious services held as a result of the activities developed by Rev. Tensho Ohata no Kinkaku-ji.

The construction of Enkoji lasted ten years and the inauguration ceremony, in 2001, was attended by authorities from Itapecerica da Serra, as well as visitors from different regions of Brazil and Japan.

The Temple is open from Monday to Friday from 2 pm to 6 pm and Saturday and Sunday from 9 am to 5 pm.
